Schools, Colleges Closed Live Updates: Boards, universities postpone exams as Omicron, COVID-19 cases rise

NEW DELHI: Several state governments have decided to shut schools and colleges and return to online learning. The decision was taken amid a sudden spike in Covid-19, Omicron cases in India. With educational institutions closing, many students are anxious as Class 10, 12 board exams 2022 and semester exams are nearing. States including Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan have announced their decision to allow schools, universities to continue online learning.

Amid the surge in Covid-19 cases in India, many states have shut schools till January end and some have announced winter vacation for students. Though Class 10, 12 students were allowed to attend physical classes keeping in mind the upcoming board exams 2022, the state governments have now instructed schools to resume online classes. The Covid-19 vaccination drive which began on January 3 for the 15-18 age group will continue.

CBSE has already conducted the CBSE term 1 exam and the Class 10, 12 exam result is likely to be announced soon. However, the CBSE had in its circular informed that the CBSE term 2 exam 2022 will be conducted if the Covid-19 situation gets better. Board, universities have started postponing all semester exams. Recently, the Tamil Nadu government announced the postponement of all university end-semester exams scheduled to start from January 20 onwards.

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) decided to shift to online mode of education till January 16, 2022, as per the new Covid-19 guidelines issued by the Indian government as Uttar Pradesh Covid cases are on the rise.
